Can my Apartment Property Management do this?
I signed a 1 year lease back in May 09 and the company i signed the lease with sold our apartment complex in June of 09. Now this new management company of my apartment wants to change terms of my original SIGNED agreement with the other company. Is this legal for them to do? It seems to me like this would be a breach of contract on their part, i mean all they did was say my rent was due on the first and considered late by the 3rd and my original agreement said rent was due on the first and considered late by the 5th. I always pay my rent on time, but if they can change this term, whats to say i wont get another letter saying that they want to increase me rent by $500. If anyone knows what the law is on this please help. Oh and also i live in California is this makes a difference.
